IRON MOUNTAIN — One person was killed and another seriously injured in a traffic crash Monday night on West A Street.

The crash occurred about 6:15 p.m. when a westbound SUV traveling at a high rate of speed hit a parked car on the 1200 block of West A Street and continued out of control into the 1300 block, striking a second parked car, Iron Mountain police officers said.

The SUV rolled, ejecting or partially ejecting both occupants — a female who died from her injuries and a male who was transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to a Green Bay, Wis., facility.

No further information would be released pending notification of family, said Ed Mattson, director of police and fire services.

Assisting were a Michigan State Police accident investigator and Integrity Care EMS.
