Dickinson adds two virus deaths
Local health officials Tuesday posted two new coronavirus-related deaths in Dickinson County, along with 13 additional confirmed positive cases.
The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department also reported seven probable COVID-19 cases and 20 recoveries for Dickinson County. Iron County on Tuesday had four new confirmed virus cases and 17 recovered cases.
The DIDHD on Tuesday had Dickinson County at 1,805 confirmed positives and 127 probable cases, with 925 recovered, 56 deaths and 951 cases still active. Iron County has had 723 confirmed cases and 40 probables, with 529 recovered, 33 deaths and 201 cases still active, according to the DIDHD.
Across the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus data site Tuesday listed 84 new confirmed positives: 18 in Houghton County, 13 in Dickinson County,12 in Menominee County, nine in Baraga County, eight in Chippewa County, six in Gogebic County, five in Delta County, four in Marquette County, three in Ontonagon County, two in Schoolcraft and Mackinac counties, and one each in Iron and Alger counties. The state added three deaths in Dickinson County, two in Marquette County and one each in Menominee and Schoolcraft counties.
In total for the U.P., the MDHHS on Tuesday had Keweenaw County at 64 confirmed cases and 14 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 121 confirmed cases and 56 probable; Alger County, 170 confirmed, 87 probable and one death, one probable; Schoolcraft County, 184 confirmed cases and 14 probable, two deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 237 confirmed cases and 96 probable, one death; Ontonagon County, 269 confirmed, 27 probable and 14 deaths, one probable; Chippewa County, 416 confirmed cases and 581 probable, and six deaths, two probable; Baraga County, 436 confirmed cases, 89 probable and 24 deaths; Gogebic County, 633 confirmed cases and 259 probable, 11 confirmed deaths and 14 probable deaths; Iron County, 719 confirmed cases and 38 probable, 31 confirmed deaths and five probable; Menominee County, 1,285 confirmed cases, 159 probable and 20 deaths; Houghton County, 1,407 confirmed cases, 343 probable, 13 confirmed deaths and three probable; Dickinson County, 1,799 confirmed cases and 128 probable, 49 confirmed deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 2,324 confirmed cases and 338 probable, 53 confirmed deaths and 12 probable; and Marquette County, 2,841 confirmed cases, 344 probable and 37 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Using only the state’s figures Tuesday, the Upper Peninsula has had 12,905 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date and 263 deaths.
The MDHHS on Tuesday reported 5,909 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan for a total of 410,295 to date. The state added 191 new deaths Tuesday – including 79 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS – to reach 10,138.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state’s COVID-19 data site Tuesday showed 30 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, seven in Vilas County, six in Florence County, five in Iron County and two in Forest County.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Tuesday had Marinette County with 3,175 confirmed cases, 277 probable cases and 36 deaths; Vilas County, 1,366 confirmed, 42 probable and 15 deaths, two probable deaths; Forest County, 764 confirmed, 48 probable and 19 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 381 confirmed, 77 probable and 10 deaths, six probable; and Florence County, 364 confirmed, 24 probable and 12 deaths. As with the Michigan data, the state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin had 4,114 new positives Tuesday for a total of 418,446 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The state added 68 deaths Tuesday to reach 3,806.
