De Pere man drowning victim

TOWN OF STEPHENSON, Wis. — A De Pere, Wis., man apparently drowned Monday after his pickup truck went off a private bridge on High Falls Flowage in the Town of Stephenson.

Deputies with the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office were called about 8 p.m. on a report of a vehicle in the water, according to a news release from Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve. Rescuers were able to remove 67-year-old Floyd Kriescher from the truck, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, the release stated.

An investigation revealed the truck attempted to get onto shore and then the private bridge near boat landing No. 6 and the Pine Acres Resort before going into the water, according to the news release. The investigation continues.

Sauve warned those who venture onto any frozen body of water to use extreme caution, as ice conditions are variable and unsafe in many locations.
