Dickinson has six more virus cases; Marinette County hits 4K positives

State COVID-19 data Tuesday showed six more confirmed positives in Dickinson County along with one new case each in Iron County and Wisconsin’s Marinette County.

It puts Marinette County at the 4,000 mark for confirmed cases.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Tuesday listed a total of 43 new confirmed positives: 10 in Marquette County; nine in Chippewa County; seven in Delta County; six in Dickinson County; five in Houghton County; two each in Schoolcraft and Alger counties; and one each in Iron, Baraga and Gogebic counties; Keweenaw County’s count again was reduced by one. Houghton County had the region’s only new death attributed to the virus.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Tuesday has had 17,181 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 398 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Tuesday had Keweenaw County at 124 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 138 confirmed cases and 117 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 247 confirmed cases and 39 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 286 confirmed, 162 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 316 confirmed cases and 169 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 375 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 518 confirmed cases, 107 probable and 33 deaths; Chippewa County, 849 confirmed cases and 1,168 probable, and 25 deaths, five probable; Iron County, 878 confirmed cases and 61 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 966 confirmed cases and 360 probable, 21 deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,650 confirmed cases, 280 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,185 confirmed cases and 255 probable, 55 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,268 confirmed cases, 555 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 2,777 confirmed cases and 513 probable, 67 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,604 confirmed cases, 613 probable and 55 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Tuesday posted 5,177 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total of 665,948. The state added 48 new deaths Tuesday — including 20 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS — to reach 16,082.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Tuesday had five new confirmed positives in Vilas County, two each in Forest and Iron counties and the one in Marinette County.

The DHS on Tuesday had Marinette County with 4,000 confirmed cases, 411 probable cases and 65 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,193 confirmed, 142 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 937 confirmed, 71 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 567 confirmed, 118 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 430 confirmed, 50 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 588 new positives Tuesday for a total of 576,632 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state listed 11 new deaths Tuesday for a total of 6,612.
