Dickinson picks up 15 more virus cases since Monday

DIDHD: Five more cases in Iron as well

Local health officials Thursday reported 15 more confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County and five in Iron County since its last update Monday.

In a Facebook post Thursday afternoon, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department also listed 11 new probable cases in Dickinson County and eight recovered cases, while Iron County had one probable and one recovery.

The agency had Dickinson County at 2,330 confirmed positives and 307 probable cases, with 2,347 recovered, 71 deaths and 219 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD had 919 confirmed cases and 66 probables, with 886 recovered, 48 deaths and 51 active cases.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Thursday listed 73 new confirmed positives: 26 in Marquette County; 13 in Delta County; seven in Chippewa County; five in Alger County; four in Schoolcraft, Baraga and Mackinac counties; two in Dickinson, Menominee, Iron and Ontonagon counties; and one each in Houghton and Keweenaw counties.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Thursday has had 18,687 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 405 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Thursday had Keweenaw County at 137 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 164 confirmed cases and 164 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 286 confirmed cases and 53 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 306 confirmed, 184 probable and two deaths, four probable; Mackinac County, 374 confirmed cases and 220 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 392 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 545 confirmed cases, 111 probable and 33 deaths; Iron County, 915 confirmed cases and 63 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Chippewa County, 996 confirmed cases and 1,314 probable, and 27 deaths, six probable; Gogebic County, 997 confirmed cases and 359 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,717 confirmed cases, 308 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,323 confirmed cases and 303 probable, 56 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,409 confirmed cases, 595 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,108 confirmed cases and 578 probable, 68 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,018 confirmed cases, 761 probable and 56 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Thursday posted 4,867 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total to date of 809,591. The state recorded 108 deaths attributed to the virus Thursday — including 75 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS — to reach 17,139.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Thursday had three new confirmed positives in Marinette County, two in Forest County and one in Florence County; Vilas County’s count was reduced by one.

The DHS on Thursday had Marinette County with 4,066 confirmed cases, 433 probable cases and 65 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,220 confirmed, 145 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 948 confirmed, 77 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 571 confirmed, 117 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 443 confirmed, 54 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 732 new positives Thursday for a total of 592,994 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state listed four new deaths Thursday to reach 6,725.
