State reports eight more virus cases in Dickinson, two in Iron
State COVID-19 data Friday showed eight more COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County and two in Iron County.
For the U.P., the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Friday listed 48 new confirmed positives: 11 in Delta County; eight in Dickinson and Luce counties; five in Chippewa County; four in Marquette County; three in Menominee County; two in Iron and Houghton counties; and one each in Schoolcraft, Mackinac, Ontonagon, Baraga and Keweenaw counties. The region again had no new deaths, though the state did add a new probable death in Delta County.
Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 18,735 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 405 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Friday had Keweenaw County at 138 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 172 confirmed cases and 169 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 287 confirmed cases and 54 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 306 confirmed, 184 probable and two deaths, four probable; Mackinac County, 375 confirmed cases and 221 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 393 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 546 confirmed cases, 111 probable and 33 deaths; Iron County, 917 confirmed cases and 64 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 997 confirmed cases and 359 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Chippewa County, 1,001 confirmed cases and 1,320 probable, and 27 deaths, six probable; Menominee County, 1,720 confirmed cases, 307 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,331 confirmed cases and 305 probable, 56 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,411 confirmed cases, 596 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,119 confirmed cases and 583 probable, 68 deaths and 20 probable; and Marquette County, 4,022 confirmed cases, 772 probable and 56 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Friday posted 5,031 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total to date of 814,622. The state Friday recorded 29 deaths attributed to the virus to reach 17,168.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Friday had four new confirmed positives in Marinette County, three in Florence County and two in Forest County. A new coronavirus-related death was posted for Marinette County.
The DHS on Friday had Marinette County with 4,070 confirmed cases, 433 probable cases and 66 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,220 confirmed, 145 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 950 confirmed, 77 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 571 confirmed, 117 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 446 confirmed, 52 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin added 795 new positives Friday for a total of 593,789 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state listed 13 new deaths Friday to reach 6,738.
