IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Road Commission hoped to reopen Pine Mountain Road by noon today, or possibly sooner, although another closure is expected next week.

A section of the road from Hibbard Street to Bellagomba Road was closed temporarily last week to repair a depression.

“We are planning on holding off on excavation of a second depression, located in the shoulder just south of the current area, until after the Memorial Day holiday weekend,” said James Harris, DCRC managing director. “We are planning for an additional road closure beginning on Tuesday, June 1, through Thursday, June 3, to perform the necessary work on the second depression area.”

The commission will be placing and maintaining crushed asphalt millings in the two areas where blacktop was removed, Harris noted.

“We will tentatively plan on paving the areas in the fall once the areas have had time for any unexpected settlement of materials,” he said.
