State data: 30 more virus cases in Upper Peninsula
State data Saturday showed 30 more confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula, including three in Iron County.
Across the Wisconsin border, state data indicated 11 new virus cases in Marinette County.
For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Saturday added five new confirmed positives in Delta, Mackinac and Baraga counties; four in Gogebic County; three in Iron County; two in Marquette and Houghton counties; and one each in Menominee, Schoolcraft, Luce and Ontonagon counties.
Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Saturday has had 19,735 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 423 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Saturday had Keweenaw County at 143 confirmed cases and 32 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 200 confirmed cases and 226 probable, two confirmed death and one probable death; Alger County, 320 confirmed, 192 probable and two deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 329 confirmed cases and 78 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 407 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 434 confirmed cases and 240 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 649 confirmed cases, 123 probable and 37 deaths; Iron County, 973 confirmed cases and 67 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 1,031 confirmed cases and 360 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Chippewa County, 1,064 confirmed cases and 1,383 probable, and 28 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 1,778 confirmed cases, 323 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,382 confirmed cases and 329 probable, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,496 confirmed cases, 605 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,312 confirmed cases and 672 probable, 72 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,217 confirmed cases, 804 probable and 60 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Saturday posted 1,289 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total to date of 874,624. The state Saturday had 107 deaths attributed to the virus — including 91 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS — to reach 18,607.
The state no longer updates its virus figures on Sundays.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site for the weekend had the 11 new confirmed positives in Marinette County and two in Vilas County.
The DHS on Sunday had Marinette County with 4,181 confirmed cases, 464 probable cases and 65 deaths, four probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,266 confirmed, 146 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 961 confirmed, 79 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 578 confirmed, 119 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 448 confirmed, 54 probable and 13 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin added 550 new positives Saturday and 232 Sunday for a total of 606,158 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state posted four new deaths Saturday but none Sunday to reach 6,958.
