A meal interrupted

Traffic prompted this bald eagle to break off from breakfast while feeding Monday morning on a carcass in a ditch along Kimberly Road from Norway to Quinnesec. It waited on a nearby tree but eventually flew away. Roadkill can create a dangerous situation for birds such as eagles, turkey vultures, ravens and crows if it brings them too close to passing vehicles as they swoop in and take off from the food source.
