Breitung summer meals to be curbside pickups

KINGSFORD – Breitung Township Schools has revised its summer food service program, due to COVID-19 restrictions, said Christine Tramontin, director of Food Service and Nutrition.

Under the program, free meals will be made available to children 18 years of age and under or persons up to age 26 who are enrolled in an educational program for the mentally or physically disabled that is recognized by a state or local public educational agency.

Starting on Monday, and through Aug. 13, breakfast and lunch will be available by curbside pickup at the Woodland Elementary cafeteria, 2000 Pyle Drive, Kingsford.

The curbside pickup for lunch and breakfast will be from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Monday through Friday.

“It is our hope that we will be able to return to the normal summer food service program in the future,” Tramontin said. “Breitung Township Schools are doing all we can to keep our students safe and healthy during these unprecedented times.”

Meals can be ordered for children ahead of time by going online to kingsford.org and clicking on the “Flivver Connect Meal Request Form” icon. You can also call the Woodland kitchen to sign up for a meal. The number is 906-779-2685 ext. 3125.

No adult meals will be available.

Also, there will be no meals July 1 through July 5, with meals resuming July 6.
