State data shows six new virus positives in Dickinson

State data Friday showed Dickinson County with the highest number of new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula at six.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Friday indicated 14 new cases in the Upper Peninsula: the six in Dickinson County; two each in Menominee and Gogebic counties; and one each in Luce, Mackinac, Houghton and Baraga counties.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 20,019 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 435 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Friday had Keweenaw County at 142 confirmed cases and 32 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 225 confirmed cases and 255 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 321 confirmed, 194 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 352 confirmed cases and 83 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 417 confirmed, 60 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 453 confirmed cases and 256 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 689 confirmed cases, 125 probable and 37 deaths; Iron County, 983 confirmed cases and 69 probable, 43 deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 1,042 confirmed cases and 362 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Chippewa County, 1,079 confirmed cases and 1,395 probable, and 28 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 1,793 confirmed cases, 328 probable and 41 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,404 confirmed cases and 338 probable, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,528 confirmed cases, 607 probable, 34 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,342 confirmed cases and 713 probable, 75 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,249 confirmed cases, 819 probable and 61 deaths, one probable. State figures are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Friday posted 446 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total to date of 889,957. The state Friday had 27 deaths attributed to the virus to reach 19,293.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Friday had two new confirmed positives in Marinette County and one each in Forest and Vilas counties.

The DHS on Friday had Marinette County with 4,229 confirmed cases, 476 probable cases and 66 deaths, six probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,284 confirmed, 146 probable and 41 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 964 confirmed, 79 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 582 confirmed, 120 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 451 confirmed, 55 probable and 13 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin on Friday added 175 new positives for a total of 610,740 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state posted 21 new deaths Friday to reach 7,150.
