Pickup truck hit by train in IM
IRON MOUNTAIN — A 55-year-old man escaped serious injury Thursday after driving his pickup truck into the path of a train at the D Street crossing, said Ed Mattson, Iron Mountain director of police and fire services.
The westbound pickup truck failed to stop for the activated railroad crossing signal at 11:42 a.m. and the vehicle was struck broadside just behind the driver’s side door, Mattson said. The truck was spun off the tracks into a snowbank.
The driver was not injured and the crash remains under investigation, Mattson said.
Both the Iron Mountain police and fire departments were dispatched to the site.
