Guarding the goslings
A pair of Canada geese keep watch over their recently hatched goslings on Six Mile Lake in Dickinson County. Geese only raise one brood a year, so need to make sure as many as possible survive while small and vulnerable. A reminder that Canada geese can be aggressive when guarding over goslings, so best to give them a wide berth whether on water or land. (Betsy Bloom/Daily News photo)
