FLORENCE, Wis. — A person from Minnesota was killed Thursday evening in a head-on crash on County Road C in Florence County.

The crash was reported about 7:21 p.m. on County Road C near Nault Road in the Town of Homestead, according to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office. A vehicle eastbound on County Road C had collided head-on with a westbound vehicle.

Despite attempted life-saving measures, the driver of the eastbound vehicle died at the crash site. The name of the driver, the sole occupant of that vehicle, was not released pending notification of family.

The three occupants of the westbound vehicle were taken to a hospital, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s office.

Assisting were Homestead Fire Department, Aurora Fire Department, Florence Fire Department, Fence Fire Department, Florence EMS, Integrity Paramedics, Pembine EMS, Florence County Emergency Management, Florence County High and the Wisconsin State Patrol Accident Reconstruction Unit.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
