Lumberjack train museum open
The Lumberjack Steam Train and Camp 5 Museum Complex in Laona, Wis., is open for the season. The steam train leaves the vintage depot on U.S. 8, on Laona’s west side, on the hour starting at 10 a.m. until the last run at 1 p.m. The last train returns to the depot at 3 p.m. Camp 5 is open Tuesday through Saturday. The train will bring you to the logging museum, complete with a working blacksmith shop, along with vintage photos and the tools that were used to provide lumber to an expanding nation. Patrons can interact with animals at the farm corral. The nature center gives insight into the ecology of the northwoods of Wisconsin.
