MCHS taps Shelast as president of Dickinson operations
AMANDA SHELAST
IRON MOUNTAIN — Marshfield Clinic Health System has promoted Amanda Shelast to be Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson president.
Shelast, formerly vice president of physician services and clinical networks at MMCD, was interim president during the search and interview process after Chuck Nelson, MMCD president and chief operating officer for Michigan, was named chief business and strategy officer of Marshfield Clinic Health System in early December.
Nelson, a former Upper Peninsula regional manager for Aspirus, was hired as president and CEO of Dickinson County Healthcare System in September 2019. In February 2022, DCH joined Wisconsin-based MCHS under an affiliation agreement approved by the Dickinson County Board in December 2021.
In her role, Shelast will direct and administer the internal operations, following policies, goals and best practices for delivering health care.
Shelast earned both bachelor and master of science degrees from Central Michigan University and is president of the National Association of Rural Health Clinics. She came to DCH in September 2020. She is board certified in health care management as a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
“I am honored to be named president of Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson. Over the past two-and-a-half years, I have worked alongside the Dickinson team and have learned a lot about the culture and the immense pride the Dickinson staff takes in caring for the people in our community,” Shelast said. “I look forward to strategic growth in our market and increasing the Marshfield presence in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.”
“Her success in leadership roles and understanding of the numerous elements required to run a hospital and clinic efficiently puts her in a strong position for success in the president role,” said Kathy Bressler, MCHS chief operating officer.
