IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Salvation Army recently honored the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Work Van Program and Supervisor Tim Clerkin for their outstanding dedication and partnership.
Officer Clerkin was presented a special “thank you” plaque as a symbol of the agency’s sincere appreciation for the continued service.
The Salvation Army also wanted to bring recognition to the positive impact the program brings to the entire community every day by providing free services to local non-profit and governmental agencies.
“His (Clerkin) commitment to community service goes far beyond duty,” Dickinson County Salvation Army Director Tara Coss said.
As an example, Coss explained over the past year, the sheriff’s work van program has assisted with essential food pick-ups, which included 49,986 pounds of food, and another 16,182 pounds of various non-food items.
“This is something that would be a very big challenge for us to do otherwise,” Coss said. “We are so grateful for the program, as this allows us to not have to worry about how we would get the task done and can focus on those in need.”
Coss added Clerkin always ensures that families in need receive support with dignity and compassion.
“His leadership, reliability and willingness to step in whenever called has made a tremendous difference,” she said.
