James David Cologna

NORWAY — James David Cologna, 89, of Norway, passed away early Friday morning, Oct. 27, 2023, at Evergreen Meadows Assisted Living in Norway.

He was born on Dec. 8, 1933, in Norway, son of Alphonse and Isabelle (Duby) Cologna. James graduated from Norway High School in 1952. He then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University.

James served in the United States Army from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1956. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

On June 18, 1960, he married the former Barbara Wall. She preceded him in death on Sept. 10, 2018.

James worked for Clairmont Transfer for 26 years as a CPA. He was also the Village of Powers clerk for over 30 years.

He played baseball, bowled, coached baseball, enjoyed being at camp, and was an avid Packer fan. James was a member of the Lions Club for several years and served as their president for six years.

He is survived by his children, Karen (Jerry) Hubbard of Stephenson, Kathy Cologna of Powers, Michael (Tami) Cologna of Green Bay, Wis., Beth (Al) Hart of Norway and Lisa Cologna of Suamico, Wis.; grandchildren, Jacob (Molly), Kristen (Jake), Katie (Doug), Nikki (Logan), Luke, Emily, Jason, Casey, Parker, and Lauren (Chad); and his great-grandchild, Perrie.

In addition to his parents and his wife, James was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Cologna, Larry Cologna and Betty Gronowski.

Visitation will be on from 11 a.m. to noon Central time on Friday at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding. The Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at noon, with Rev. Benny Mathew officiating.

A committal service and military honors will immediately follow in the Norway Township Cemetery. There will be an informal gathering at the Side-Track Restaurant in Powers at 3 p.m. to share memories of Jim.
