QUINNESEC — Ricky Allen “Rick” Nelson, 68, of Quinnesec passed away on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, in the comfort of his own home with family by his side.

He was born in Iron Mountain on May 25, 1955, son of Alfred and Marge (Theisen) Nelson and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1973.

In 2000 Rick met and started sharing his life with the former Robyn Rossato. On Aug. 29, 2009, they were married on the Menominee River in Quinnesec. Rick worked many different jobs in his early years before ultimately settling into his favorite position as a union millwright. He retired in 2021. Rick was an avid outdoorsman and talented builder who always kept his hands busy. If you needed anything built, Rick could handle the job. He also enjoyed trips to his “R & R” camp, hunting, golfing, time with the Randville Sportsman Club and boating in his pontoon.

Rick will be deeply missed by his wife, Robyn Nelson; children, Adam Nelson (girlfriend, Amy), Ashley Nelson and Gina (Chris) O’Connell; grandchildren, Jonah, Isabella and Elianna; mother, Marge Nelson; siblings Susan (Steve) Higgins, Joy (Montee) Skorich, Roy Nelson and Carrie Jo Mellinger; parents-in-law, Robert and Georgina Rossato; brothers-in-law, Ross Rossato and Dane (Renae) Rossato; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

Rick is preceded in death by his father, Alfred Nelson; and his brother, Nick Nelson.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home, 901 Carpenter Ave., followed by a funeral service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rick’s family would like to thank Dr. Morel and staff, as well as the radiation oncology staff for their excellent care and compassion.
