Vote ‘no’ on Bay IM millage

EDITOR: Here we go again. Dickinson County taxpayers are being asked to help fund the Bay College Iron Mountain campus with another 20-year millage. Let’s call this what it is — overreach. They’ve been in our county for two decades, thanks in part to land donated by a local family and a millage that was approved back in 2005 to help them build their campus. Why are we being asked to pay for another two decades? That’s a lot of money and a long time. Bay College is in the business of education. Are taxpayers asked to help other businesses in town pay for operating expenses? ...

No need for Bay College millage

EDITOR: Bay College wants Dickinson County taxpayers to shell out for another 20 years. Why? We already gave them land. We already paid to build their campus. Now they want us to keep paying — forever? Bay College gets state and federal funding. They have tuition dollars. They don’t need more from us. As a retired homeowner living on a fixed income, I pay close attention to every tax proposal that comes my way and I know what’s right and what’s not. We’ve done our part. Time to say no. Vote NO on Aug. 5.

Tractor ride to VA set for July 23

EDITOR: On Wednesday, July 23, the Northwoods Antique Tractor Club will have our 11th-annual tractor ride to the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain. We will meet on State Street near Alter Metal Recycling in East Kingsford and be ready for an escort by Kingsford Public Safety at 10 a.m. Most of our club members are veterans and come from around the area.
