Boys basketball: Shorthanded Patriots fall; WIAA first round matchups set

PEMBINE, Wis. — A game-high 33 points from Hayden Renikow and 25 points from Tristan Pollard was too much to overcome for the host Patriots, as Goodman-Pembine was defeated 70-59 by Wausaukee Monday night at Pembine High School.

“The game was much closer than the score shows,” said G-P head coach Jeff Zerbst. “I believe it was a three-point game with a couple minutes left. They hit all their free throws in the last couple minutes and we did not.”

The Patriots only played with six players due to illness and Landon Kalkofen fouled out.

“We were very thin toward end of game. I am proud of my boys. This is the way we need to be playing at tournament time,” Zerbst said.

Goodman-Pembine (8-12) heads to Goodman High School Thursday night to welcome St. Thomas Aquinas for non-conference action in the Patriots’ last regular-season game.
