Dates set for 2021 ski jump tournament

BREITUNG TOWNSHIP – The dates for the 2021 FIS Continental Cup at the Pine Mountain Ski Jump were announced on Thursday. The dates are Feb. 12- 14, 2021. A statement from FIS via the Kiwanis Ski Club was posted on the club’s official Face- book page:

“Make plans now to be at the 2021 FIS Continental Cup at the newly rebuilt historic Pine Mountain Ski Jump in Iron Mountain, Michigan!

The renovation of the Pine Mountain Ski Jumping hill in Iron Mountain started late May in order to assure

that the facility in Michigan will continue to meet the criteria required by the International ski Federation FIS.

As part of this modernization, here on the characteristic in-run tower will be modernized, a ceramic in run-track will be installed and a warm-up room will be construct- ed near the start gates. Construction in Iron Mountain is expected to last through October. We hope to see you here on Feb. 12 (practice day), Feb. 13 and 14 (tournaments), so you can see our newly built ski jump and watch jumpers soar through the air.”

The annual competition draws well over 20,000 fans to the venue throughout the three-day event. Construction is in progress, and at the current time, the scaffold is completely stripped down to the metal jump.

Progress of the construction can be best seen at the bottom of the hill, by the Kiwanis Ski Club Clubhouse.
