Iron Mountain 19U baseball extinguishes Cooper Country Flames

By The Daily News staff

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Copper Country Flames fell victim to Iron Mountain’s hot hitting in a doubleheader loss on Sunday.

C.J. Bolo homered in the first game to power Iron Mountain (10-4) to a 6-1 win.

Bolo tripled in the second game to help IM tie the score 2-2 in the first inning en route to a 7-2 win.

The Flames (3-6) had offense of their own, but couldn’t match the power Iron Mountain brought to the plate. Copper Country was held to one hit in the second game — a single in the first inning by Dylan Horning.

Iron Mountain pitchers changed up the timing for the Copper Country hitters, using a mix of fastballs and off-speed pitches.

Copper Country found offense in pieces throughout the day, but never strung together a potent enough inning to make a dent in Iron Mountain’s lead.

Gannon Bray pitched the first game for Iron Mountain. Caleb Johnson, Nathan Bousley and Nolan Amundsen pitched the second game.

Kade Farrell started on the mound in the first game for Copper Country. Eli Oldt and Horning tossed the second game.

Iron Mountain visits Gladstone on Wednesday.
