Knights honor top student-athletes

NORWAY — The Norway High School athletic department held a virtual awards program Tuesday evening, streamed on the Norway-Vulcan Schools official Facebook page.

The ceremony will be posted to the school’s web- site today.

Joe Tinti, principal and athletic director, headed up the program, which included coaches from all fall and winter sports.

Most valuable player awards, special team awards and the outstanding male and female senior athlete awards were given out. Also, the recipients of three athletic scholarships were announced.

The Quentin Nolte Trophy is given out each year to the outstanding male athlete from the graduating senior class. This year’s recipient is Kody Hendricks, who participated in football and basketball, and was also signed up to play baseball.

The Clarence “Towe” Castelaz Trophy is given out each year to the outstanding female athlete from the graduating senior class. This year’s recipient is Danae Anderson, who participated in volleyball and basketball, and was also signed up to compete in golf.

The three athletic scholarships were handed out are as follows: Don Hill Memorial Scholarship, Kody Hendricks; Ronberg Memorial Scholarship, Parker Lasater; and Charles E. Day Scholarship, Mary Slagle.

The Don Hill Scholarship is awarded to a senior member of the varsity boys basketball team and the Ronberg Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a senior member of the football team.

The Charles E. Day Scholarship is awarded to a senior female athlete. The complete list of awards follows:
