McRoberts tosses complete game no-hitter
IM-K-N Juniors blank Marquette
IRON MOUNTAIN — On a muggy Tuesday evening at LiUNA Field in Iron Mountain, the Iron Mountain-Kingsford-Norway U17 Junior Baseball team hosted Marquette.
Behind a complete game no-hitter from pitcher Henry McRoberts, and solid hitting, IM-K-Norway blanked Marquette 10-0.
McRoberts’ numbers for the game were seven strikeouts and three walks, while hurling 71 pitches.
“It was great team win, everybody contributed,” said IM-K-Norway head coach Jeff McLean. “But what can you say, witnessing a no-hitter is pretty special, the whole team was super excited for Henry.”
Chase Carlson and Isaiah Anderson each had two hits apiece for the home team.
Beau Kralovec contributed a double.
McLean noted that a key defensive play occurred during the top of the third inning. Marquette batter Dylan Cobe scorched a line drive but IM-K-Norway second basemen Niko Burgoon made a diving stop.
IM-K-Norway hosts Menominee Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
The end of the season U.P Baseball Junior League tournament will be hosted by IM-K-Norway.
The tournament is tentatively scheduled over the course of three days, July 16-18, at Marion Park in Norway.
