FLORENCE, Wis. — Evan Johnson rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns as Florence hammered Wausaukee 56-0 in non-conference eight-player football Friday.

The young Rangers were hindered by the loss of a starting running back, said Florence coach Kent Walstrom.

“We lost (end) Corbin Behrmann (to injury), but otherwise came out OK,” Walstrom added. “Hopefully, it won’t be too bad.”

Bobcats quarterback Braden Boettcher completed five of six passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson’s rushing total came on 11 carries.

Walstrom was pleased with the play of Logan Schuls, six tackles, and Bryce Leffler, five tackles. Both are freshmen.

Schuls also returned a punt 68 yards for a touchdown.

Kyle Leffler, a junior, was the anchor of the defense with six tackles.

The Bobcats led 34-0 at halftime.

Florence (3-1) will have a rematch with Laona-Wabeno on Friday at Wabeno. The Rebels handed the Bobcats their only loss in the season opener.
