Marquette, Pickford keep top spots in final UPSSA football poll
NEGAUNEE — The fourth and final UPSSA Football Poll of 2020 has a few changes in both the 11 and eight-player standings.
Last week’s No. 1 team in the 11-player poll, Marquette, received all five first-place votes again in this week’s poll. But Sault Ste. Marie jumped back to the No. 2 after a 60-0 win at Cheboygan on Friday night.
The Kingsford Flivvers dropped one spot to No. 3, while Houghton remains in the 11-player poll, at No. 5. The Gremlins were No. 4 last week.
Menominee, who received a forfeit win over Kingsford on Friday, moves up to the No. 4 spot this week. West Iron, Iron Mountain and Calumet also received votes in this weeks poll.
Pickford with four first place votes, remains in the No. 1 spot in the eight-player poll, with No. 2 North Central getting one first-place vote. Cedarville remains No. 3, with a final record of 5-1, with their lone loss of the season being to No. 1 Pickford.
Forest Park enters the top five for the first time this season, at No. 5. Last week’s No. 5 Munising received votes from the five voter panel. The Mustangs dropped a home game to No. 4 Lake Linden-Hubbell by the score of 6-2 on Friday night.
