Mountaineer spikers blank Gladstone, 3-0
IRON MOUNTAIN — In a Mid-Peninsula Conference match Thursday night, Iron Mountain defeated Gladstone in straight sets 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-23) in the Mountaineer Gymnasium.
Mountaineer head coach Jeanne Newberry was pleased with her team’s performance.
“We continue to serve strong with a total of eight aces, led by Annslee Runsat with six and Hanna Proudfit serving 13 for 15,” Newberry said.
“Playing a triangle, having three setters on the floor, Andie Ellis led with six assists, Lulu McCash with four and Georjee Swartout with three, adding a new dimension to our offense,” Newberry added.
The Lady Mountaineers totaled 19 kills in the match: nine from Runsat and five from Lily Verrette.
Newberry noted that Lexi Hagan had a strong defensive night with 11 digs and 10 serve receives.
Iron Mountain remains home to host non-conference foe Niagara on Monday, for the Mountaineers senior night.
