Lady Trojans’ season ends
STEPHENSON — Stephenson’s Paige Cappaert scored 22 points as the Eagles defeated Forest Park 55-28 in an MHSSA Division 4 opener Monday.
Gracie Peterson led the Trojans with 13 points.
“Stephenson shot the ball well and we put them at the line too many times,” said Forest Park coach Kim Bjork. “We had some foul trouble in the third quarter and that really allowed Stephenson to pull away.”
The Eagles, who made 14 of 24 free throws, led 22-11 at halftime.
“We had some good looks, it just wasn’t our night,” Bjork said. “Our girls battled until the end.”
Lauren Kudwa, Lea LaChapelle and Amya Johnson netted five points apiece for the Trojans (1-14).
“Our seniors Lea, Amya, Paige (Mianecki) and Macy (Johnson) will be missed,” Bjork said. “They played with a lot of heart tonight.”
Stephenson (8-7) will host Carney-Nadeau (17-0) on Wednesday.
