MHSAA boys tournament tips off Tuesday; electronic tickets required
IRON MOUNTAIN — The MHSAA boys basketball tournament begins Tuesday.
In a Division 2 (Class B) district, Kingsford travels to Negaunee on Thursday for a 5 p.m. Central time tip-off. The winner will host the district championship game on Saturday, March 27, against either Escanaba, Gladstone or Houghton.
The regional semifinal for this district is at Manistique on March 30, with the regional final at Traverse City Central High School on April 1.
There are three area teams in a Division 3 (Class C) district tournament, hosted by Norway. Head coach Jeff Gallino and the Knights will host Division 3 newcomer Menominee on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The winner of Menominee at Norway will host the winner of Monday’s Manistique at Bark River-Harris matchup. The Broncos and the Emeralds also tip off at 6 p.m. Central time.
On the top of that bracket, Gwinn travels to West Iron on Tuesday night, with the winner to travel to No. 1-seed undefeated Iron Mountain on Thursday. The winner of Gwinn/West Iron vs. Iron Mountain will host the district final on March 27.
The regional semifinal for the two U.P. Division 3 districts is at Escanaba High School on March 30, with the regional final at Sault Ste. Marie on April 1.
In Division 4 (Class D), North Central is a district host, and they’ll await Tuesday’s Carney-Nadeau at Stephenson outcome to host the winner on Thursday night in Powers. The winner of Thursday’s semifinal game in Powers will host the district championship March 27.
On the bottom of that bracket, Forest Park and head coach Kurt Lehmann will host North Dickinson on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The winner of Tuesday’s matchup at the Eddie Chambers Memorial Gymnasium is scheduled to travel to No. 2 seed Hannahville on Thursday at 7 p.m. Eastern time.
The Division 4 regional semifinal game for the North Central, North Dickinson and Forest Park boys district winner is at Marquette Senior High School on March 30, while the championship game is on April 1 at Lakeview Memorial Gymnasium in Negaunee.
ADMISSION: All MHSAA tournament games require electronic tickets. There are no tickets available at the gate, and your electronic ticket must be presented for entry.
Athletes received six access codes for electronic tickets to distribute. Remaining, unsold tickets will become available to purchase at 12 p.m. on the day of the corresponding game.
There is no entry to any MHSAA tournament games without an electronic ticket.
