IM takes pair from Miners on diamond

IRON MOUNTAIN — Jurgen Kleiman drove in six runs in the opener as Iron Mountain breezed to a doubleheader victory over Negaunee on Wednesday, 14-3 and 11-1.

Kleiman drove in runs on a single in the first, a home run in the third, and a sacrifice fly in the fourth.

Bryce Pietrantonio’s single drove in two as the Mountaineers built a 4-0 lead in the first.

The Mountaineers put up seven runs in the fourth to end the game. The onslaught was led by Blake Julian, Eli Lofholm and Niko Burgoon.

Julian pitched all four innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out seven.

Tony Kralovec, Ian Anderson, Kleiman, Julian and Pietrantonio all collected two hits apiece for Iron Mountain.

Niko Lukaremen went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Negaunee.

Carson McLean pitched for the Mountaineers in the second game, allowing one run on two hits over three innings. He struck out six and walked none. Caleb Evosevich-Hynes threw two innings of scoreless relief.

Lucas Maxon had two hits to pace the offense. The Mountaineers put up three runs in the fifth to end the game, with Burgoon and Luke Decker both driving in runs.
