FLORENCE, Wis. — Behind a 14-run first inning, Florence powered past Northern Lakes Conference foe Crandon 15-1 in three innings here Monday.
The Bobcats batted through their lineup two full times in the opening inning.
Senior Sidney Tomczak toed the mound for the first two innings for Florence, fanning four batters. She also went 2-2 from the plate with two doubles.
Fellow senior Lacey Enders went 3-3 and also cracked a double. Freshman Victoria Peterson and Isabella Millan also hit doubles for the Lady Cats.
Paige Uren pitched the final inning for Florence, striking out two batters.
“The girls have really started hitting the ball as of late,” said Florence head coach Dan Robinson. “I feel the reason for that is they’re being much more patient at the plate.”
Crandon only managed one hit, and the run they did score was an unearned run.
No. 2 seed Florence will remain home as they prepare to host No. 7 seed Bowler in a WIAA regional game on Monday at 5 p.m. The Florence-Bowler winner will take on the winner of Monday’s No. 6 Wausaukee at No. 3 Niagara.
