Fredrick-Pontbriand win the 2021 Fred Flink Best Ball tournament at Oak Crest; Markell-Clements runner-up

A pair of father-son Pine Grove County Club duos snare top 5 finishes

NORWAY — The two man team of Joey Pontbriand and Sam Fredrick eked past the duo of Jim Markell and Mark Clements by one stroke to win the 2021 annual Fred Flink 2-Man Best Ball tournament, Aug. 7 and 8 at Oak Crest Golf Club in Norway. Pontbriand-Fredrick carded a 14-under for the two-day event, which fielded over 100 golfers..

Third and fourth place finishers were both father and son duos from Pine Grove Country Club. Dale Ward Jr. and his son Tony came in at -8, one stroke ahead of Randy and Jon Ellis, at -7.

There was a three way tie for fifth place at -3, between the teams of Noah Kiser-John Grayvold Jr. Tom LaVigne-Nick Markell and Dan Zanoni-Brian Bongi. The team of Jake Zeugner and Alex Manier rounded out the championship flight standings with a -2.

Mike Brayak and Mark Ray carded a -7 to win the First flight, with Dave Lantange and Dan Liebergen taking home the Second flight at -2. The duo of Joe LeMire and Gary Unrein won the Third flight with a +1.

Chuck Pellegrini and Jon LeMire won the Fourth flight at +7, while Jan and Mike Bovee took the Fifth flight at +9. Chuck Kempf and Cardy Steele won the Sixth flight carding a +16 for the weekend.
