Bobcats bow to Bluejays, 26-16

THREE LAKES, Wis. — Florence kept it close but fell to undefeated Three Lakes 26-16 in MONLPC-West eight-player football Friday.

The Bluejays led 18-8 at halftime. Florence’s scores came on a 2-yard run by William Kelley and a 38-yard run by Evan Johnson. Each player also had a conversion run.

“Three Lakes ran the ball well and controlled the line of scrimmage,” said Florence coach Kent Walstrom. “We’re at Wabeno/Laona on Thursday so we’ll have a short week to get ready.”

Johnson totaled 87 yards rushing on 14 carries. Kelley, the quarterback, found Johnson on seven receptions for 67 yards and Logan Schuls had four catches for 55 yards.

Trent Watkins led the Bobcats defense with 17 tackles. Other defensive leaders were Kyle Leffler, Johnson and Schuls.

Kickoff on Thursday at Wabeno is at 6 p.m.
