FLORENCE, Wis. — With very accurate and effective serving, to go with strong floor communication, Florence overwhelmed Northern Lakes Conference rival Goodman-Pembine, 3-0 (25-7, 25-5, 25-4) in girls volleyball action Tuesday night at Florence High School.

Juniors Tylie Fyvie and Madison Johnson, as well as sophomore Isabella Millan, were the trio of Florence players who led the team’s effective serving. The outcome of all three sets was never in question from the start, though the young and inexperienced Lady Patriots stuck together and played hard throughout.

“Tylie is our strongest and most accurate server, like she was tonight,” said Florence head coach Teresa Chrisman. “Our serving has been great as a team all season. Some girls didn’t get to serve tonight because the ones that did were so effective. Goodman-Pembine is a young team, but they didn’t quit.”

Morgan Tomczak and Victoria Peterson displayed strong play at the net for the Ladycats. “When we did get some free balls, our hitting was very strong,” Chrisman added.

The Ladycats were scheduled to play in a tournament in Crandon on Saturday, but it has been canceled. With that cancellation, Florence returns to action Tuesday at NLC foe Elcho, before hosting non-conference opponent Carney-Nadeau on Oct. 7.

Starting at $4.00/week.
