Trojans force 5 turnovers in win

STEPHENSON — Forest Park overcame an early 14-6 deficit and roared to a 50-14 win in Great Lakes Conference 8-player football Friday.

“A slow start, but the kids came together,” said Trojans (4-0) head coach Brian Fabbri.

Sam McKissack was the centerpiece of the Forest Park offense, rushing 29 times for 279 yards and four touchdowns. He was 3-of-3 passing for 108 yards and two TDs.

The Trojans defense forced five Eagles turnovers.

“It was nice to see the kids bounce back and make some plays,” Fabbri said, referencing the 46 points given up in regulation in last week’s 62-60 overtime win over Ontonagon.

McKissack scored on runs of 60, 51, 28 and 44 yards. He connected with Will Curtis on 94-yard scoring pass and with Kevin Giuliani on a TD pass of nine yards.

Reagan Alder completed Forest Park’s scoring with a 21-yard run. McKissack ran for three conversions and tossed to Curtis for another.

Alder led the defense with 12 tackles and a fumble recovery. Matthew Showers had 10 tackles and an interception and Nik Stephenson registered 11 tackles and a fumble recovery. Curtis and Gabe Quevedo also had interceptions.

Stephenson led 14-6 early in the second quarter but the Trojans took a 22-14 lead into halftime.

Fabbri credited defensive coach Chris Nocerini and staff assistants Spencer Burns and Daniel Nocerini for their roles in the win.

The Trojans travel to Norway on Friday.
