Swinging with the stars: Area players, Adams named to UP all-star team

ESCANABA — Several local baseball players and Norway coach Tony Adams were among those named to the All-Southern U.P. All-Star baseball team by members of the southern U.P. media after consultation with area coaches.
The group of area pitchers selected included Norway senior Nolan Amundson, Iron Mountain junior Carson McLean, North Central sophomore Adrian Mercier and Kingsford freshman Gavin Trevillian.
Local position players included on the all-star team were Norway senior Chase Carlson, Iron Mountain senior Lucas Maxon, Kingsford senior Sawyer Pugh, North Central senior Alex Naser, Kingsford junior Henry McRoberts, Iron Mountain juniors Evan Haferkorn and Beau Kralovec, North Central junior Luke Gorzinski, Norway sophomore Alex Ortman and Kingsford freshman Andreas Finley.
Adams was named co-manager of the year with Gladstone’s Joe Darmogray. Adams guided the Knights to a Skyline Central Conference title, while Darmogray led the Braves to a tie for the Great Northern Conference crown.
Escanaba senior Hunter Lancour was chosen most valuable player, while the Eskymos won the team of the year award after finishing 25-9 overall and 15-1 against schools from the Southern U.P. region.
Other pitchers selected to the team included Escanaba senior Jared Hanson, Bark River-Harris senior Travis Mack, Superior Central senior Dakota Maki, Gladstone junior Braden Sundquist and Superior Central junior Hayden Rockhill.
Other position players selected to the team included Menominee senior Austin Melke, Manistique seniors Bryce Blixt and Jack McEvers, Gladstone seniors Cam Kelly and Nick Martin, Bark River-Harris senior Mason Bower, Gladstone junior Tyler Darmogray, Escanaba junior Trent Lawson, Bark River-Harris junior Joe Javurek and Escanaba sophomore Bon LaChance.
The Southern baseball team included players from Delta, Dickinson, Schoolcraft, Alger and Menominee county areas.
