Kingsford’s Gravel sees NHL action
KEVIN GRAVEL
Steven Stamkos and Filip Forsberg each tallied twice, but the Nashville Predators fell to the Anaheim Ducks 5-4 on Thursday night at Bridgestone Arena.
Kingsford native Kevin Gravel skated for the Predators and saw his first NHL action since 2024-25 when he suited up in six games for Nashville.
The Predators had been eliminated from playoff contention in an April 13 loss to San Jose.
Predators rookie Cole O’Hara made his NHL debut in Thursday’s game and skated on Nashville’s first line alongside Stamkos and Ryan O’Reilly. He also picked up his first career point on a night that didn’t ultimately go the home team’s way.
O’Hara, 23, was called up Thursday from the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League, joining Gravel, 34, who was called up April 11. Gravel has served as Milwaukee’s captain for each of the last three seasons.
In Thursday’s Nashville season finale, Gravel logged 16 ½ minutes of ice time with a shot on goal.
Gravel and O’Hara are now back with the Admirals, who will face-off against the Manitoba Moose in the Calder Cup Playoffs beginning Wednesday in Winnipeg.
All three games will take place in Mantioba. Game two is slated for Friday and, if necessary, game three would be Sunday.
During the season series the Admirals won five of the eight games against Manitoba with a 2-2 record in Winnipeg.
The winner of the series will move on to the Central Division semifinals where they will play Grand Rapids, who finished in first place in the division. That series will be a best-of-five match-up.
Gravel has now skated in 139 career NHL games with the Kings, Oilers, Maple Leafs and Predators since making his league debut in 2015-16, recording 15 points — one goal and 14 assists.
