A tornado watch continues until midnight Central time Thursday for Dickinson, Iron and Menominee counties plus Florence County in Wisconsin; as well as Alger, Baraga, Chippewa, Delta, Luce, Mackinac, Marquette and Schoolcraft counties in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, according to the National Weather Service.

Earlier, a tornado warning was issued for northern Marinette County after the NWS office in Green Bay stated that at 6:36 p.m. Central time a tornado was confirmed 9 miles northeast of McCaslin Mountain Natural Area, or 27 miles south of Kingsford, moving north at 35 mph.

Emergency scanner reports indicated multiple trees and power lines down across roadways in Marinette County due to possible tornado activity. Crews were responding to similar calls in Dickinson and Menominee counties.
