Artificial turf at Flivver Field

Recently, the Breitung Township School District announced plans for artificial turf on Flivver Field. I would like to expand on the process described. At a special school board meeting members of the board gathered and expressed various opinions on the project and financing. It was a respectful sharing of viewpoints. In the end, some thought that the project was a good idea and others disagreed. We voted and abided by the majority. Now we are moving forward, working towards a positive outcome.

With Biden, best to surrender a lost cause

For the record, the man I want to eventually be our president is Republican and former Ohio Governor John Kasich. He’s direct, knows how to compromise, intelligent, tough if needed, and has something that is getting harder to come by: that being common sense. He finished third in the Republican primary in 2016. Let me begin this by acknowledging the awards this paper has recently won. Congratulations. It reflects well on your publication, and it furthers my previously stated remarks on why people need to buy and read their local newspaper. Television goes just so far due to time constraints and the other electronic media is so manipulated as to be worthless. Dr. Bob Lorinser was in town June 6 to talk about critical issues facing Dickinson County elders—the survival of Social Security and Medicare. For the 24% of county residents 65 and older, this is vital. Social Security and Medicare are facing challenges. Under current laws Social Security will exhaust its trust funds by 2033 and unless Congress fixes it, benefits will be cut by 23% Many Republicans want to increase retirement age to 70. Undercutting our democratic institutions

EDITOR: Are there any standards for political figures including the nominees that should be met? It appears that there are not or if they exist today, they are hidden. When we talk about no standards based on clear evidence, and not respecting others you may disagree with over policy, or other things such as religion and political viewpoints, it appears to me we are supporting criminal and dictatorial behavior and those likely to act in that way. Need to stop for signs, signals

After reading Tuesday’s Daily News, I was compelled to write a response to one of the articles. Two women were needlessly killed as a result of an automobile accident in Marinette County. The article states that a male motorist failed to stop for the stop sign at Highway B and collided with the woman’s vehicle. Inattentive driving was thought to be a factor in the accident. Inattentive driving? What was this driver looking at? Apparently not the road. I don’t know how many times I have come up on a near accident because a vehicle does not stop for a stop light or stop sign. ...
