WAM Fest returns for 11th year with street market, live music, art and activities
WABENO, Wis. — The Wabeno Art and Music Fest — WAM Fest — returns for its 11th year on Saturday, July 18, with a full day of live music, art, shopping, food and family-friendly activities in downtown Wabeno.
The festival will feature performances by local, area and regional musicians beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing through the evening, with headliner Bogfoot taking the stage at 8 p.m.
A student art show will be on display in legion hall, featuring work by middle and high school students from area schools from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Artful Activities for children will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the festival grounds.
New this year, pickleball lessons will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wabeno’s newly installed courts.
The popular street market will also return, with vendors, crafters and area artists set up from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Festivalgoers can browse a wide variety of booths featuring home improvement and decor, jewelry, handcrafted items, antiques, vintage and collectibles, baked items including sour dough bread, jellies, maple syrup, and Henna body art supplies.
So far 20 vendors are expected, with additional vendor spaces still available.
“This year’s festival will feature pickleball lessons, an expanded student art reception, and a booth serving pulled pork and mac and cheese. We’ll also hold a small raffle with never-opened estate-donated items, including a brand-new heavy-duty Singer sewing machine. It should be a great festival,” said Mary Beck, WAM Fest coordinator and president of Friends of Wabeno.
Food options will include Mexican fare from Los Magueyes, hamburgers and brats from a local restaurant, along with easy access to pizza, and other offerings from downtown restaurants and bars.
New this year, Kwik Trip pizzas will be available for purchase during the evening Bogfoot performance.
The festival’s 50-50 raffle will name three top winners at the conclusion of the event at 10 p.m.
Area sponsors helping make the day possible include Forest County Potawatomi Community, Wabeno Lions Club, Christian Thrift Store, Smith Concrete, Trump Lake Protective Association, Wabeno American Legion Post 44, Antique Power Association, Forest County Tourism and many local and visiting volunteers.
WAM Fest is coordinated by Friends of Wabeno, a local nonprofit volunteer organization working to help keep Wabeno economically strong and healthy through promotions and community development projects.
