Free meal in Norway Aug. 29

NORWAY — Grace United Methodist Church of Norway will offer a free community meal from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28. The menu will include bratwurst, potato salad, baked beans and dessert. There is no cost for the dinner, but a donation basket will be available. The free meals will be available for take-out at the church parking lot. Reservations will be required for this meal. Rehearsals begin in September for Dickinson County Community Chorus

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Community Chorus will begin its annual Christmas season with the first rehearsal scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13. This rehearsal will begin preparations for the Sounds of Christmas concert. Rehearsals will be Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church, 395 Hamilton Ave. in Kingsford. VBS planned next week in Quinnesec

QUINNESEC — A Vacation Bible School has been set for 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday at the Quinnesec Park Pavilion. The program is for ages 4 to 12. It is sponsored by the Quinnesec United Methodist Church and the Quinnesec Calvary Lutheran Church.

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP — The Mansfield Memories Committee will host its annual summer ecumenical service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 21. The old pump organ will again accompany many favorite hymns and gospel songs. Lay Minister Nancy Reese of St. Rose Catholic Church in Channing will be the officiant. The committee extends an open invitation to anyone who wishes to attend and hopes that they will stay for fellowship and lunch to follow the service. IRON MOUNTAIN — First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain, reminding the public that hunger knows no season, asks for the community’s participation in its annual Independence Day Food Drive. Since 2006 volunteers have been pushing shopping carts in the parade to collect unexpired, non-perishable food items, personal care items, cleaning supplies and cash donations.
