Penny Wars donation
Students at St. Mary Queen of Peace Church of Kingsford started their religious education year with in-person classes and decided to kick off with something fun that would benefit the community. Junior Ben Trevillian, who also co-teaches the fifth grade class, initiated a friendly competition of “Penny Wars” among the classes to raise money for our local law enforcement agencies. The students brought in change for a month, four classes, that was then counted by the 11th grade students. With the money raised they bought gift certificates for pizza and distributed them to the local police departments. The certificates were presented to the Iron Mountain Police Department, Kingsford Public Safety, the Dickinson County Sheriff Department, and the Michigan State Police.
