Florence County has two more virus cases

Florence County health officials Wednesday indicated two more COVID-19 positives, while Vilas County in Wisconsin has 11 new cases.

The Florence County Health Department posted the latest results on its Facebook page, bringing the county to 10 cases total, with only four active and six recovered.

Vilas County also listed its latest testing results on its Facebook page, raising its total to 75.

For other Wisconsin counties in the region, the state data site Wednesday showed an increase in Vilas County alone and only five more cases, not the 11 county health officials had reported.

In the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan COVID-19 data site Wednesday had five new positives in Delta County, four in Alger County, two each in Menominee and Chippewa counties and one each in Gogebic and Luce counties.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services data site Wednesday had Keweenaw County with two confirmed cases and one probable; Luce County with four confirmed cases; Baraga County, five confirmed cases; Schoolcraft County, 12 confirmed cases and one probable; Alger County, 14 confirmed and one probable; Ontonagon County, 15 confirmed and three probable; Mackinac County, 20 confirmed cases and six probable; Iron County, 20 confirmed cases and one death; Chippewa County, 31 confirmed cases and 12 probable; Houghton County, 43 confirmed cases and seven probable; Dickinson County, 57 confirmed cases, one probable and two deaths; Delta County, 82 confirmed cases, 22 probable and three deaths; Gogebic County, 117 confirmed cases, eight probable and a death; Menominee County, 132 confirmed cases and 18 probable; and Marquette County, 158 confirmed cases, 14 probable and 11 deaths. State numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS also earlier separately had prison inmates as positive in Luce and Chippewa counties.

Using strictly state figures Wednesday, the Upper Peninsula has had 714 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 18 deaths.

The MDHHS reported 517 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan on Wednesday for a total of 89,271 to date. The state added nine new deaths Wednesday for a total of 6,264.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Wednesday listed Marinette County with 432 cases and four deaths; Iron County 76 cases and one death; Forest County 60 cases and four deaths; Vilas County 65 cases; and Florence County eight cases. As with the Michigan data, the state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin recorded 478 new cases Wednesday for a total of 62,263 to date, according to the state DHS data site. The state had five new COVID-19 deaths Wednesday to reach 1,011 to date.

According to the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department, Dickinson County as of Wednesday has had 58 confirmed COVID-19 positives, with 22 recovered, two deaths and 34 cases still active. Iron County has had 20 positives, with eight recovered, one death and 11 still active.

Dickinson County Healthcare System as of Wednesday showed 17 cases from Dickinson County and 14 cases from other counties; those counties are not identified. DCHS has tested 2,671 people for COVID-19, with 31 positive, 2,563 negative and 77 results still pending. DCHS noted there are several additional sources of testing in Dickinson County.
