Dickinson County schools to close through Oct. 30 due to virus activity

Dickinson County public schools will shut down in-person classes through Oct. 30 due to the surge in COVID-19 activity in the area, based on a recommendation today from the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department.

As of 1 p.m., Breitung Township Schools, Iron Mountain Public Schools, North Dickinson County School District and Norway-Vulcan School District all had notified students and families they would shift to virtual learning during that period.

North Dickinson County also canceled tonight’s football game against Ontonagon. The status of the other area athletic activities scheduled for tonight was unclear.
