Drill at Ford Airport

Entities that would be involved in an actual emergency took part in a full-scale drill Wednesday at Dickinson County’s Ford Airport in Kingsford. Transportation was simulated for 15 passengers injured in a plane crash, said Airport Manager Tim Howen. Participants included the Dickinson County Sheriff Department and E 911, Kingsford Public Safety Department, Integrity Care EMS, Guardian Flight, Transportation Security Administration and the airport’s Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting unit. Federal Aviation Administration regulations require airports to conduct such a rehearsal for emergencies at least every three years. There was also assistance from Schilleman Bus Service of Kingsford and airport-based Kubick Aviation Services and CSA Air, Howen said. (Theresa Proudfit/Daily News photo)
