IRON MOUNTAIN — An Iron Mountain man accused of the possession of child pornography pleaded not guilty Friday in Dickinson County Circuit Court.

Michael Cootware, 32, is charged with six counts of the aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison; and six counts of using a computer to commit a crime, punishable by 10 years or more in prison but less than 20 years.

As a four-time habitual offender, he could spend up to life in prison if convicted.

According to the criminal complaint, Cootware had about three dozen videos and two dozen photographs of prepubescent children on two different cellphones between Nov. 20 and Dec. 10.

A pre-trial conference is set for March 4. Bond is set at $200,000 cash or surety.
