One airlifted after Menominee County three-vehicle crash

MENOMINEE — One person later had to be airlifted to a Green Bay hospital after a three-vehicle crash early Friday on U.S. 41 in Menominee County.

Menominee County Sheriff’s deputies were called about 5:37 a.m. for a collision involving a tractor-trailer, a pickup truck and a passenger car south of Birch Creek Road in Menominee Township. Two people had to be extricated from their vehicles, with at least one rollover, according to the sheriff’s department news release.

All involved were taken to Aurora Medical Center in Marinette, Wis., with one injury requiring transfer to the Green Bay hospital.

U.S. 41 had to be closed for about 6 1/2 hours due to the crash, which remains under investigation.

Assisting were Menominee City Police, Michigan State Police, Menominee-Ingallston Fire Department, Menominee City Fire Department, Aurora Medical Center Bay Area Paramedics and EMS, Menominee County Special Deputies and Menominee County Central Dispatch.
