US 2 resurfacing to start April 26
LANSING — A resurfacing project on U.S. 2 from Iron Mountain west to Norway is scheduled to begin Monday, April 26, the Michigan Department of Transportation said.
One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction using lane closures and traffic shifts. The estimated completion date is July 2022.
MDOT is investing about $2.8 million to resurface about 8 miles of the highway from Michigan Avenue in Iron Mountain to west of Fifth Avenue in Norway.
The project will also incorporate an ongoing work zone safety review process between MDOT and the contractor. This pilot program will identify new safety procedures to keep workers and motorists safer during the project, MDOT said.
The project will result in a smoother driving surface and increased safety, the agency said.
