KINGSFORD — A garage fire early Friday in Kingsford badly damaged the structure but caused no injuries, authorities said.

Officers arrived on the 700 block of Cass Avenue just after 12:22 a.m. to find the garage engulfed in flames, according to a news release from Kingsford Public Safety.

KPS requested mutual aid from the Iron Mountain Fire Department due to the garage’s proximity to other structures. They were able to quickly extinguish the fire, and while the garage is considered a total loss, other nearby buildings only had heat damage to siding.

Officers returned to the station at 2:53 a.m.

In addition to the IMFD, KPS was assisted by the Iron Mountain Police Department, Michigan State Police, Integrity Care EMS, We Energies and DTE Energies.
